Start Your Own Bird Watching ClubFinding Members For Your Bird Watching Club It is easy to recruit members for a local bird watching club. You can post flyers at the local library, place an ad in the newspaper, solicit members from a local garden club, or simply ask your friends if they would be interested in sharing an afternoon of bird watching. The internet is also a great place to attract new members to your bird watching club. Most communities have message boards or websites on which you can post information about local events. You can also use the internet to host a worldwide bird watching club. In a worldwide bird watching club, it doesn't matter where each member lives. Simply have each member post pictures of the birds they see in their own yards. It can be quite fun to see different types of birds and learn what birds can be seen in which parts of the country or world. Where To Hold Your Bird Watching Club Meetings You can arrange to have club members meet at community locations known to attract birds or you can meet at the houses of your members. If you meet at community locations, such as parks, beaches, or wildlife trails, it can be fun to pack a lunch and make a day of your outing. If you plan to meet at member houses, make sure that the yard you will hold your meeting in attracts a large array of birds and wildlife. The yard should have ample feeding stations, bird favored foliage and fruits and places for the birds to drink water and take baths. It is also important that the yard has good seating in shaded areas and is big enough to host the size of your club. It can be a lot of fun to trade off which home hosts the meetings so that the burden of hosting doesn't always fall on one person and so that club members have a chance to see many different types of birds and bird habitats. You can provide a nice lunch for the club members or even have a potluck at each meeting. Bird watching is a fun and relaxing pastime that becomes even more enjoyable when you share it with others that love birds as much as you do. |
