Bowflex Exercises for Shaping Your Body

There are about sixty to ninety-five different Bowflex Exercises, and before you start doing with, it is important for you to know which will produce the best results. By trying out some of them, you can get a fair knowledge about which ones are the most effective.

Two Basic Types

It is sometimes difficult to decide which exercises to choose, but you could follow the instructions of a gym instructor or just read up the information available on the website. There are basically two kinds of Bowflex Exercises: the isolation movements and the compound exercises. There are exercises which are called isolation movements which stress your body across a single joint.

Isolation Movements

Isolation movements are not as effective as the compound exercises, since they use less of the body. Some examples of Bowflex Exercises could be for the chest fly, leg extension or even a shoulder raise. So, if you do chest fly, you would basically be exercising the pectoral muscles.

Isolation exercises are useful if you are interested in shaping a certain muscle group. However, if you are looking at overall fitness, weight loss or muscle toning, you must choose from a variety of your Bowflex exercises.

Types of Isolation Exercises

There are many examples of a workout using isolation exercises. There are Bowflex exercises like the bench press and the incline press for the chest or back rows and pull downs for the back. The biceps curls, the triceps extensions and kickbacks will take care of the biceps and triceps.

The leg extensions and leg curls are for exercising your thighs and the front raises and lateral raises are meant for your shoulders. The standing calf raises helps to exercise your calves. The tummy crunches are regular Bowflex Exercises for your abs.

Compound Exercises

In the case of compound exercises you stress your body across multiple joints at once. Examples of these types of Bowflex Exercises are the squat, back row and bench press. Compound exercises give you more resistance than isolation exercises. They definitely increase "core" strength and bring about an improvement in overall body appearance.

It is therefore clear that compound movements are useful for most muscle groups, but for exercising certain muscles in the body like the calves, biceps, triceps and Abs the isolations movements are a good choice.

It is relatively easy to understand the principle of compound and isolation exercises. If you choose to do most of your Bowflex Exercises as compound movements, you automatically improve the overall effectiveness of your workouts, and in the bargain, you use less time.
