What To Take On Your Caribbean Sailing Vacation

Some close friends of mine, a married couple, recently took one of these Caribbean sailing vacations, traveling through the tropical beauty of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Spanish Virgin Islands, and the British Virgin Islands. They had a fabulous time and seemed to have been mystically transformed into an even more loving and caring couple. This is their list of must-take items if you end up taking a Caribbean sailing vacation.

Cameras

Your camera should be both waterproof and fog proof, with a carrying case that is both strong and waterproof. While taking pictures on deck during your Caribbean sailing vacation, this camera should have a neck strap that can be worn while taking pictures on deck. What a great way to preserve your dream vacation forever!

Binoculars

You need binoculars to view the spouting whales and the romantic sunsets. You should make sure your binoculars are waterproof and fog proof. Since things can get knocked around pretty well on the high seas, your binoculars should be stored in a sturdy, waterproof case when not in use.

Sunglasses

Because of the combination of the sun and the reflections of the sun's rays off the water, it is going to be very bright for the majority of your Caribbean sailing vacation. Get a high quality pair that are fog proof and come in a durable case.

Deck Shoes

Even if it is sizzling hot in the Caribbean during your vacation, deck shoes should be worn at all times because of their superior traction on board. Many a toe has been broken when inadvertently smashed against an immoveable object, or a smashed face has resulted when tripping occurred, by those moving around on deck without shoes.

Hat

Most of the time it is a good idea to wear a hat on deck to either shield you from the rain or sun. It should contain some sort of strap that attaches to your neck or shoulder. It should also be of bright color so you can find it if it blows away.

Trousers

Knowing a gale is possible at any time during your Caribbean sailing vacation, trousers that are waterproof, flexible, and lightweight are a good idea. Additionally, heavy-duty patches around the knees and rear will increase their durability.

Jacket

A sailing jacket should be bright in color, lightweight, waterproof, and should contain reflective badges or patches. Most that are high quality include storm collars and cuffs, adjustable hip and waist belts, bellow pockets with mesh drainage, and inner zipped pockets.

With the above items, and maybe a few more, you are now ready for your Caribbean sailing vacation. Good luck, and don't get sunburned!
