Children and Running: Few Words

In this dynamic time the terms, both children and running are correlated to each other. If the kids develop the habit of exercising it will offer them the advantage of being healthy adults in near future. So, if the kids show their desire for participating in a children running competition, do not make them disheartened. Running is a natural sport that needs a little equipment but makes your children healthy and fit. Let's take a short look to the points focusing on the required precautions that should be made before the children start running.

Pre-Running

Before you offer any encouragement to the children, they should be evaluated for their apparent physical limitations, if any. Kids are very sensitive to heat, so the guardians have to control the children from running in the hot days. Children are very flexible, it is true. But this is also essential for them to start running exercise after getting the proper warm-up session. Once the muscles get the required warm-up, the children can start running. It is also important to make them familiar with the proper warm up techniques.

How Long the Children Should Go

When children start running they just forget all the burdens they have, because they are not quite aware of their limitations. It is the responsibility of the guardians to make them understood about how far they can go. Mr. Lyle Mitcheli, the Director of the Division of Sports Medicine at Children's Hospital in Boston, states that a 14 years old kid can run at the maximum of three miles at a time. Considering the safety of growing bones and the cartilages of the children, he recommends so.

Some minimum sports gears are also necessary for the children. Children running shoe is obviously one of them. A quality shoe is better for their running, with proper softening in the fore-foot and hills in addition to arch support is also recommended.

Greater Emphasis on Fun

The goal of running for the children should be well shaped and it is the point to be remembered that the greater emphasis should be given over the fun of running. The children may start disliking the exercise if they are forced for running fast or winning the races. The main emphasis should be given on the development of children's self-esteem by admiring their efforts. It will also help them to accomplish their goals. If the children enjoy running and can feel the sense of pride after touching the wining rope, they will continue their enthusiasm for life.
