A Guide to Excessive Sweating Medical ConditionsExcessive Sweating Medical Conditions Excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis, is a condition which can be incredibly embarrassing and even disabling for some people, depending on how serious it is. It is a disorder that defines those individuals who sweat more than the body would normally need in order to maintain optimal temperature. It can affect a person's work productivity, confidence, social comfort, emotional well being and wardrobe choices. As well, studies and research have shown that this condition impacts quality of life similar to or even greater than other well known dermatological conditions, such as severe acne or psoriasis. There are a few different categories that hyperhidrosis has, which are: axillary hyperhidrosis, the underarms; palmar hyperhidrosis, the hands; plantar hyperhidrosis, the feet; and facial hyperhidrosis, the face. Focal hyperhidrosis is known as being the most primary form of excessive sweating, and it is localized to one or more of these four areas. Treatment When it comes to available treatment for excessive sweating medical conditions, you are really not able to do anything productive until you speak to your doctor. This is because they will have to give you a full examination, diagnose and assess your condition, and then inform you of what the proper method of treatment is going to be. You need to remember that because sweating can be such a difficult condition to get rid of, it will sort of be a trial and error process at first, as you may have to try out quite a few different treatment options before you are actually able to see any positive results. Working together with your doctor is incredibly important in a situation such as this, so that they can keep an eye on you and your progress and make note of what treatments work, what ones do not, and how well you are progressing in general. If none of the optional methods of treatment seem to be working, then you may be sent to a specialist, and surgery may even be discussed. |
