The Hidden Basics Of A Fruit Juice DietFor the average person, however, there needs to be an understanding of a few basic principles in order to make a fruit juice diet work. But before you actually start on any diet, you should talk to your doctor first and follow his or her advice. Beware Of Sugar In Processed Fruit Juice It is critical to avoid processed fruit juices that are loaded with sugar. Sugar raises insulin levels, makes you moody and will turn into fat when it is not burned. This is to say nothing of the enormous calorie content present in sugar. Then again, in many fruit juices sugar is the least of your worries as high fructose corn syrup is often employed as a sweetener. This is a REALLY bad additive that has no nutritional value and does little more than pack on excess calories. To say it should be avoided on a fruit juice diet would be a dramatic understatement! Natural Fruit Juice - Plusses And Minuses Instead, when going on a fruit juice diet it is a much better idea to stick with natural fruit juice. Natural fruit juice can be purchased or made in a mixer. The sugars in natural fruit juice are compound sugars and are loaded with nutrients. As such, they are far more preferable for a fruit juice diet as opposed to processed juices loaded with simple (refined) sugars. Please note: this does not mean that one can go overboard with fruit juice as the calories the natural sugars possess also have the potential to pack on the pounds if they are not ingested in moderation. Do Not Use Fruit Juice As A Substitute For Food Please keep in mind that a fruit juice diet is not a substitute for food. Yes, if you ingest an exclusively liquid diet you will drop weight in the short term, but the eventual end result will be a slowing of the metabolism and a loss of muscle. This can also lead to binge eating which can prove disastrous. As such, a fruit juice diet should NEVER be a substitute for a balanced diet. |
