What Are The Different Types Of High Blood Pressure MedicationAlpha Blockers Alpha-blockers are used to block production of the norepinephrine hormone that is responsible for restricting small blood vessels and this medication type slows the heart rate. Nervous System Inhibitors Nervous system inhibitors are drugs that are used to relax the blood vessels through affecting the nerves that control them. An increased blood flow is possible with this medication. Side effects include weakness, feeling of exhaustion, anxiety, trembling, light-headedness, chest pain and other serious effects. Your doctor will be able to prescribe a course of treatment based on different factors and depending on your situation; you may be prescribed more than one high blood pressure medication.
