Home Tanning Beds: Getting A Great Tan At Home

We all tend to associate tans with the beach and the outdoors. The most common method of tanning is to go to the beach, spread a beach towel on the sand and soak in the sun. Although the idea of basking in the sun at the beach is still very much appealing to most of us, not all of us can really afford to go to the beach these days. With our fast paced careers and even more complicated lifestyles, we often do not have enough time to go out and get a real nice tan. Fortunately, advanced technology brought tanning to another dimension. Now, one can already get those glorious tans without even leaving home and even in the middle of the winter. With the use of home tanning beds, you can stay bronzed all year round.

Are They Safe To Use?

According to studies, about twenty five percent of adult Americans have used home tanning beds in their lifetime and some of these people even own home tanning beds. Out of the total number of people using home tanning beds, there were only very few reported cases of injuries such as burning. In most cases, the few reported cases of injuries associated with the use of home tanning beds actually results from the misuse of the tanning bed.

We must understand that when it comes to safety, the attitudes of the people who are using these home tanning beds count. If you use your home tanning bed properly and according to your dermatologist's specifications, then you can say that you are safe from harm. On the other hand, if you are one of those people who do not really bother about following instructions, then you have no right to get a home tanning bed in the first place.

Benefits Of Indoor Tanning

Generally, indoor tanning is a lot safer than sunbathing. Most home tanning beds use non-cosmetic ultraviolet lamps equipped with special light spectra that prevent harmful rays from penetrating the skin. These types of special light spectra are often used by physicians to treat certain types of skin diseases such as psoriasis and are considered as safe for the skin.

However, too much exposure to home tanning beds can also cause skin dryness and wrinkles, so you should still be careful when using tanning beds. To prevent skin dryness and wrinkles, do not forget to apply tanning lotion after using your tanning bed.
