The Connection Between Humidity and SweatingIn other words, if it is humidity and sweating that you are suffering from than this is easy to fix, however if you have a hereditary sweating problem or one that is caused by a hormone imbalance, for instance, then it is much more serious. Humidity and Sweating Humidity can be measured in several different ways, but basically relative humidity is the most common. Relative humidity is the ratio of the current absolute humidity to the highest possible absolute humidity. Absolute humidity is the mass of water vapor divided by the mass of dry air in a volume of air at a given temperature, and so the hotter the air is, the more water it can contain. Humans are incredibly sensitive to humidity, because the skin relies on the air in order to get rid of moisture, and the more humid it is the less air the skin is able to get. The process of sweating is the body's way of trying to keep cool and maintaining its current temperature. For the most part people tend to feel most comfortable at a relative humidity of about 45 percent, and you can use certain devices, such as humidifiers and dehumidifiers in order to keep indoor humidity at a desirable level. Humidity and sweating problems are not especially serious, as there is generally no need for prescription medications or surgery or anything of that sort, however it can be problematic. The simplest way to deal with humidity and sweating is to keep yourself cool, and so during the warmer, more humid months, you want to make sure that you have an air conditioner going inside your home so that at least while you are indoors you will be cool. As well you can go swimming, which helps by instantly cooling off the body, or you can just carry a small handheld fan around with you as this will help too. Some people love the humidity while others hate it, and regardless of whether you find that you sweat a lot from it or not, humidity, if too high, can actually be dangerous, and so on days where the humidity is predicted to be at an extreme level, you will want to make sure that you stay indoors as long as possible. |
