The Essential Kayaking Accessories

Kayaking is an exciting sport, which you cannot always predict its outcome as it is practiced on water and therefore you must always be prepared to encounter any possibility at a moment's notice.

The Essential Kayaking Equipment

Depending where you will be kayaking, the kayaking accessories may differ slightly, for example, if you are sea kayaking weather and water patterns may change very quickly and then you may need survival accessories. I recommend you always prepare for the worst, it never hurts to be over prepared but that does not mean to be over packed as that also means increase in weight and that is one thing you don't want in your kayak.

Here are a few kayaking accessories which you should always carry on you irrelevant of the waters in which you will be kayaking: a personal floating device (PFD) is the number one item, which will save your life when needed and it can be worn so it does not have to be carried separately; a bilge pump, a compass and map (one is useless without the other) and paddle floats.

These kayaking accessories have nothing to do with your kayaking experience, in fact if you have any experience at all you will not leave without them in the first place as they will save your life and that of others should the need arise.

More Kayaking Accessories

So you have the essential kayaking accessories, there are still some that can be carried along which will make your expeditions pleasant and fun as it should be always. Wear clothes that will dry easily as you will definitely get wet when kayaking, ensure you are wearing some sun protection both on your skin and a baseball hat or visor, sunglasses to cut the glare, comfortable shoes and socks which also dry easily and some snack that can fit in your pocket like a cereal bar or chocolate for quick energy boost.

When kayaking you will use every inch of muscle in your body and you will get hungry, an energy bar or quick snack will keep you going until dinner.

Helpful Tip

The better prepared you are for the kayaking trip the more fun and exciting it will turn out to be for you and the others in your group. Kayaking should be done in groups for the simple reason that you can help one another should the need arise as well as the fact that the more participate the merrier it will get and adventurous.
