Organic Food Companies Finding Consumer Size GrowingWhen chemicals are used in a field it can take several years before all of them have been dissipated from the ground. Depending on how long they have been used and in what amounts, it can take only a few to several years before a field can earn the status of organic. When growing their products, organic food companies must be able to prove their products are completely free of chemical enhancement before they can use the organic labeling on their products. It is not only the perceived benefit of eating only organic foods that have some people making the switch from their traditional suppliers. For many, using products from organic food companies is also better for the environment and a step is helping to provide a greener environment for the future. Keeping The Planet Free Of Artificial Products For years, food producers developed and relied on artificial fertilizers to help their production as well as artificial pesticides to minimize the crop damage done by pests. However, over the years the effects these chemicals can have on the environment as well as to the consumers is becoming better known and organic food companies are taking the step to remove them from the food chain. During the hey days of farming the use of chemicals made it cheaper to produce more product and organic food companies know that they will not be able to provide as much food without them. However, despite the higher prices associated with greener products, consumers appear willing to pay for healthier food that also helps the environment. The health impact that organic food companies can make on consumer's health is only part of the story. The footprints left in the farmland operated by the organic food companies will also be more clear and leave a lasting impression on the Earth. |
