What Is Involved In An Organic Food Diet?

Pesticides and chemical abound in our world these days, and it is often years before links are made between these products and damage to not only people but also the environment. DDT was a popular pesticide that was used extensively in the United States for years before it was discovered that it was causing the Bald Eagle and Pelicans to have reproductive problems, unfortunately other countries may still be using this harmful chemical.

That is just one example of the concerns that many consumers have about the food chain and what we are consuming. Another concern centers around the combination of chemicals that we as consumers are exposed to in our daily diets, with livestock being injected with antibiotics and crops being grown with pesticides, no one seems sure what these combinations can result in.

An organic food diet is a solution that many consumers are turning to in order to feel that they are not endangering themselves or their families with harmful chemicals.

What Is An Organic Food Diet?

An organic food diet is one that involves eating only organic foods. An organic food diet incorporates foods that have been organically grown or raised. To be considered organic, a food must be chemical free, this means that no pesticides or chemicals have ever been used on the food and even in livestock this can carry over as the livestock needs to be raised with no hormones, antibiotics and even their food needs to be organically grown.

By ensuring that all that is consumed is free of any chemicals many consumers are more confident that their organic food diet is a healthier way to live. This type of choice is one that many consumers are beginning to consider as we learn more and more about what we have been ingesting. Besides the obvious fact of preventing chemicals from contaminating ourselves, chemicals are also pulled into water supplies when they are used by farmers on crops. Again, these chemicals have an impact on not just humans but the rest of the planet as well, exposing other living beings to dangerous levels of chemicals.

An organic food diet is one way that consumers feel they have more control in what they are exposing themselves to, and many grocery chains have picked up on this trend and are offering more and more products that are organic. From organic banana to meats and poultry that have been raised in a humane way and not exposed to any chemicals, stores are respecting the desire of the consumer to have choices in the foods we eat.
